About

Christopher Leslie (he/him) is a lecturer in the Faculty of Liberal Arts at the Prince of Songkla University in Hat Yai, Thailand. His research focuses on the synergies among science, technology, and society. This results in academic papers and projects with an interdisciplinary focus, such as engineering education, the interactions between science and literature, and the history of science and technology.

Dr. Leslie has recently completed a long-term research project into the history of U.S. science fiction before 1970. This project – with the title From Hyperspace to Hypertext: Masculinity, Globalization, and Their Discontents – will be published this fall by Palgrave Macmillan.

A two-time recipient of a Fulbright award, Dr. Leslie has taught at the City University of New York (John Jay College and Hunter College), the University of Potsdam (Germany), New York University Tandon School of Engineering, and the South China University of Technology. Currently an independent scholar, Prof. Leslie is the chair of the International Federation of Information Processing’s working group on the history of computing and has held various roles in industry.

Born in the rural American village of Fredonia in New York State, Dr. Leslie attended the State University of New York college in his hometown before moving to New York City to attend graduate school. He earned his MA and PhD from the City University of New York Graduate Center.
